Ice Park Campground
is a large RV park (27 acres) that is the summer time activity of Ice Alaska,
Inc., a non-profit corporation that promotes the arts with an
international Ice Sculpting competition each year in Feb. - March. The
park offers sites with trees, a nearby
public park and close by big box store shopping. Just a few miles from
University of Alaska at Fairbanks. Only 3 picturesque walking or
biking miles along the Chena River to downtown and just 1 & 1/2
miles to the local 'Little Theater' for those that enjoy live performance art.
Secluded and quiet but
still close in. Centrally located to all tourist activities, museums,
parks, river boats, shopping.
Facilities: In our main building we have coin
operated laundry, free Internet computers available for your use, free office WiFi, an on-site Certified Massage Therapist, large
clean restrooms with showers, computer stations, and a large main hall
for a get together. A used book loaning library is available. We have
two easy access dump stations (free to overnight RV guests) with water. All major television
stations are available with your amplified antenna (a typical RV device).
Location, location: Ice
Park Campground is just a short walk from the Chena river. Crossing the
river is a foot bridge and a few feet beyond you'll discover Pioneer Park.
This public park contains many restored original log cabins built by
early settlers, now converted to shops. The park also has a large (more then 200 feet long) restored
paddle wheel boat converted to a museum, two other pioneer museums, an aircraft museum, two old
time theaters presenting regular performances, a resturant, and several food
vendors. Well worth the visit and considered a must see Fairbanks park
(free to enter). Please note that there is so much to do in Fairbanks
that you should consider staying at least a week, just going to the
arctic circle is a one day adventure (we can arrange for a group van service - it is not recommended that you take
your own vehicle, towed or RV). We will work to make your visit fun and
eventful by providing the information you require.
Accommodations: The
Ice Park Campground & RV park can accommodate RVs of most sizes as
most of the sites are
easy nose-in or back-in. Check out the 'View' link above for an aerial
view. Most sites are deep and wide enough (50 foot) that you can park
your toad (aka: towed vehicle)
next to or in front of your RV. We try our best to provide a quiet,
secluded site where you can park your rig for a long stay. We leave the
ice carving competition backdrops (large black sun screens) in place
for shade in many southern situated sites. We do have several pull
through sites for large
rigs and have provided spaces for up to 60 foot RVs (RV plus Trailer).
Currently we have 30Amp at many sites and additionally provide 20Amp at all except a few.
Volunteers: We support a non-profit organization so appreciate those folks who volunteer
their time to help us around the park. For a little work; general clean
up, cooking for the crew, checking in guests, we will discount your
site charges on a sliding scale and if you do enough, provide you with
lunches and dinners. Let us know when you check in or after you've
checked us out, that you would like to help out. Directions:
